Schmooze Vol. 1 Issue 6: Editor’s Notes

This is our final newsletter of 2024. Much has happened since our last issue. The US election is over, the war in the Middle East rages on, pro Hamas activities continue in our universities and city streets, and we are about to enter a new year that for many reasons will be unlike any year before. Buckle up.

We are always looking for brief articles, reviews, announcements, and information to share among our members. If you have anything you would like to share please forward it to: steven.stein@mhs.com with “Schmooze news” in the subject line.

There are changes on the Board of AJP, with some members moving on and new members soon to be appointed. We are grateful for the many contributions of those who have been involved in getting AJP off the ground. There are over 1,400 members at this point in time. As promised in a previous newsletter, we will implement our membership dues in early 2025. We will email members a link to pay their dues when the system is ready. As you can imagine, the costs of running a growing organization are steadily increasing and we need your support.

The rates are as follows:

Professional Members: $100. Masters or Doctoral degree in psychology or related field. Includes professionals in any discipline (e.g. psychology, social work, nursing, engineering, law, etc.)

ECP’s: $50 for individuals that are 1-5 years post-degree; $75 for individuals that are 6-10 years post-degree. After 10 years, individuals will graduate to the ‘Professional Members’ category.

Retirees/Emeritus: $75

Students (national and international): $25. Free for first year of membership, thereafter dues will be $25. For Israeli students, the membership fee will be $10 after the first year. Includes individuals enrolled in a part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate training program.

International Members: $50. For individuals not residing in the United States.

Non-voting Affiliates: $25. For individuals who are interested in supporting AJP’s efforts, but do not wish to vote in AJP elections.

Institutional Members: $250-$1,000. For organizations supporting AJP’s goals and mission.

No one will be turned away for lack of funds. For more information about member dues, please contact AJP’s membership Co-Chairs, Elena Eisman and Mayra Zoe Ortiz.

Fees will help support AJP’s administrative staff, website, events, and materials.
