AJP Mentorship Program

The Association of Jewish Psychologists (AJP) Mentorship Program connects emerging and experienced Jewish psychologists and allies to strengthen scholarship, clinical practice, leadership, and the communal response to antisemitism. Grounded in AJP’s mission to promote the psychological understanding of Jewish history, culture, and identity, this program supports student and early career professional members in developing the skills, confidence, and community needed to thrive in their professional and Jewish lives by pairing them with experienced professionals.

To participate in this program, you must be a registered AJP member. Click here to become a member.

Free to AJP members, the program is grounded in the following goals, aligned with AJP’s mission:

  • Advance career development for Jewish students and early career professionals within the greater field of mental health.
  • Help mentees navigate unique professional challenges faced by Jews in psychology and higher education.
  • Reduce professional isolation for Jewish students and early career professionals within the field, particularly those in environments with limited Jewish representation.
  • Build enduring professional connections grounded in shared Jewish identity, values, and commitment to collective growth.
  • Encourage scholarship and collaboration that promote Jewish wellbeing and resilience.

Please note that if you are a graduate student, your mentor is not intended to replace your advisor, dissertation chair, supervisor, etc; rather, this is meant to provide you with an additional support grounded in the lived experience of being Jewish in the field.

For any questions or concerns about the mentorship program, please email the Mentorship Program Coordinator, Liya Levanda, PsyD, at liya@drlevanda.com.
